Fr. Joseph D. Carne

Resigned in July 2002 after a credible accusation of sexual misconduct involving a minor that occurred 27 years ago. Took a leave of absence due to health reasons. Permanently expelled from the ministry in April 2002, as stated in the diocese’s list on December 13, 2018. According to the report from the Michigan Attorney General in October 2022, Carne faced multiple allegations of sexually abusing boys aged 8 to 17, as well as male college students. There was also an incident where he attempted to forcibly kiss a teenage girl. Carne claimed that his own struggles stemmed from being sexually abused by Father Michael Hale. Carne passed away on May 13, 2019.
