Fr. Ephraem Sitko
Diocese: Diocese of Marquette MI
Ordained: 1946
Status of Accusation: Accused
Publicly identified as accused in the Michigan Attorney General’s report on October 22nd, Sitko’s name emerged in connection with a disturbing incident reported by a woman in 2020. According to her account, during her time as a third-grade student at St. Ignatius Loyola School in 1963, Sitko would seize her during recess and force her to sit on his lap beneath his flowing cape. Despite her desperate pleas for release, he would tighten his grip and find amusement in her distress, even going as far as whispering into her left ear. It is worth noting that Sitko, who passed away in 1982, was ordained for the O.F.M. Franciscans, although it seems he did not remain within the order. (His name is also occasionally spelled as Ephream or Ephraim.)
