Fr. Charles J. Strelick

Publicly identified as an accused individual in the report released by the Michigan Attorney General’s office on October 22nd, this person’s alleged misconduct came to the attention of the diocese in August 2020. According to a man who came forward, Strelick, during a confession in 1991 when the man was just 8 years old, was informed about the sexual abuse inflicted upon him by two older boys. Shockingly, instead of providing support or reporting the incident, Strelick proceeded to touch the young victim, coerced him into performing oral sex, and engaged in other disturbing activities. It is worth noting that Strelick served as the pastor of St. John the Evangelist in Ishpeming during the period in question, and he passed away in 2017.
