On February 4th, he was placed on leave after an investigation by the archdiocese into allegations of sexual abuse against a minor boy that occurred approximately 30 years ago. The matter was reported to the civil authorities in 2003. A review committee deemed the allegations to be “substantive.” Throughout his career, he took a leave of absence in 1973 and a sabbatical in 1992. Additionally, he served as an Army National Guard chaplain for 12 years, including an 8-month deployment overseas during the Persian Gulf War in 1991. In May 2004, he was sued by a man who claimed to have been abused by him in the third grade. Consequently, he was permanently removed from public ministry in 2005. His name was included on the archdiocese’s list on June 10th, 2019. He passed away on January 3rd, 2021.
