Fr. James R. Wysocki

Diocese: Archdiocese of Detroit MI
Ordained: 1967
Status of Accusation: Accused

In 2003, Wysocki was placed on leave by the archdiocese following a thorough review of an old accusation of sexual misconduct involving a minor. Initially, officials lacked sufficient information to take action, but the allegation was eventually deemed to be substantial. This particular incident was said to have taken place shortly after Wysocki’s ordination in 1967, making it at least 15 years old at the time. Another allegation of abuse, this time involving a teenage youth in the early 1970s, surfaced in 2004. The Vatican intervened and ordered a church trial. As a result, Wysocki was permanently prohibited from engaging in public ministry in 2007.
