Fr. John Steven Rabideau

Diocese: Diocese of Saginaw MI
Ordained: 1990
Status of Accusation: Convicted

In 1998, Rabideau was accused of abusing three boys between the years of 1985 and 1987 when he was a seminarian. These incidents took place during his visits home to the Saginaw area while he was studying in Boston and Rome. A warrant for his arrest was issued, but he managed to flee the country. In 1992, he was suspended and then dismissed in 1997 as per the order. Surprisingly, Rabideau resurfaced as an active priest in the Philippines in 2004. However, his freedom was short-lived as he was arrested in Colombia in 2006 and extradited back to Michigan. Eventually, he pleaded no contest to three charges, resulting in the dropping of other charges. In October 2006, he was sentenced to 5-10 years in prison for child sex abuse. Interestingly, despite never having served in the Saginaw diocese, Rabideau was included on their list on August 9, 2019. Tragically, he passed away on May 30, 2014, at the age of 52 due to a bicycling accident.
