Fr. Lawrence Nawrocki
Diocese: Archdiocese of Detroit MI
Ordained:
Status of Accusation: Convicted
In 1981, a concerned woman brought forth a complaint to a regional bishop regarding the alleged abuse inflicted upon her seventh-grade son by Nawrocki. Despite her initial intention to press charges, the bishop managed to dissuade her from doing so. However, in 1989, Nawrocki was ultimately convicted of abusing three young boys from Macomb Township in 1987, a case that gained momentum after the parents united and voiced their concerns. As a consequence, he was sentenced to a term of 4-15 years in prison, only to be released in 1994. The Archdiocese, in response to these grave offenses, declared that he would never be reinstated into public ministry. According to the archdiocese website accessed on 10/09, Nawrocki is now deceased. Furthermore, he has been included on the archdiocese’s list of individuals who have been credibly accused, as of 6/10/19.
