Fr. Leo Olschausken
Diocese: Diocese of Gaylord MI
Ordained: 1948
Status of Accusation: Accused
Originally from Lithuania, this individual made their way to the bustling city of Chicago in 1958. Initially, they were assigned to St. Michael’s Lithuanian Church before taking on the role of chaplain from 1961 to 1974 in the Diocese of Grand Rapids MI at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac. It wasn’t until 11/10/18 that their name was mistakenly spelled as “Olschaysken” on the Diocese of Gaylord’s list, publicly marking them as accused. Following this, they were removed from the diocese and returned to their Order. Interestingly, according to a parish history for St. Mary of the Assumption in Coal City IL, within the diocese of Joliet, Olschausken was assigned there from 1974 until their passing on 7/21/87.
