Fr. Frank M. Lenz
Diocese: Diocese of Marquette MI
Ordained: 1969
Status of Accusation: Accused
Retired from his position in 2007, this individual’s life took a drastic turn on 4/2/18 when the diocese received a credible allegation of sexual misconduct with a young girl in the 1970s. After denying these accusations, he was placed on administrative leave. The diocese later added his name to their list on 12/13/18, but it wasn’t until 10/20 that the Vatican announced their inability to determine his guilt or innocence. With this announcement, he was allowed to return to ministry, albeit with certain restrictions in place. The MI A.G.’s report on 10/22 included his case, shedding light on the fact that the abuse allegedly occurred during the victim’s time in grades 3-5, specifically during visits to a horse farm. The accuser also claimed that her friends had suffered similar abuse. Unfortunately, due to the statute of limitations, no criminal prosecution could be pursued by civil damages might be available for their victims.
