Fr. Harold Charles Depp

Diocese: Archdiocese of Detroit MI
Ordained: 1959
Status of Accusation: Convicted

According to articles from May 2003, Depp made the decision to depart from his parish within the Detroit archdiocese back in 1963 and never made a return. He was placed “on leave” but never officially terminated his role as a priest. It wasn’t until the 1980s that the Archdiocese discovered Depp’s conviction for child sexual abuse in 1982, resulting in an eight-year sentence in an Alaskan prison. In 2003, Depp was apprehended in California for allegedly abusing an 11-year-old boy in 1971 during his time as a visiting priest from Detroit. However, the charges were eventually dropped on July 15, 2003. Interestingly, Depp was included on the Detroit archdiocese’s list of credibly accused individuals on June 10, 2019.
