Fr. Robert W. Haener

Diocese: Archdiocese of Detroit MI
Ordained: 1957
Status of Accusation: Accused

Allegations have been made against an individual for engaging in both psychological and sexual abuse towards multiple boys at two parishes and two Catholic schools during the 1960s and early 1970s. In the late 1960s, an investigation took place at one of the schools, during which several unidentified priests arrived and interrogated approximately 30 boys. However, no further actions were taken for a significant period of time. Eventually, the accused was removed from their parish in 1992 and subsequently worked as a chaplain in a hospital. However, in 2002, they were once again removed from their position. Finally, in 2005, the Vatican permanently barred them from engaging in any public ministry. These events culminated in their inclusion on the archdiocese’s list on June 10, 2019.
