Fr. Stanislaus Bur

In 1992, there were allegations made against Bur, claiming that he had molested an Ionia altar boy back in 1958. The Grand Rapids diocese conducted an investigation and deemed the accusations to be credible. As a result, they provided financial support for the victim’s therapy, paying up to $1,000 per month for several years. However, during this time, Bur was serving in the Saginaw diocese, where he was eventually removed from active ministry. He received a permanent suspension and was assigned a life of prayer and penance in November 2005. Unfortunately, in March 2008, additional allegations of past abuse were brought to light. Bur passed away on February 1, 2009.
