Fr. Augustine Cops

From the Netherlands, this individual joined the Capuchin Order as a friar in the year 1959. They were ordained in 1986. However, their name was publicly disclosed as the focal point of substantiated allegations by the St. Joseph Province Capuchins, earning them a spot on the province’s comprehensive list in October 2020. Interestingly, this entry was placed under Detroit, the very location where the Province is headquartered. Furthermore, their presence on the Chicago archdiocese’s list in October 2022 cannot be overlooked, as they were assigned to a parish from 1986 to 1988. Their involvement was also highlighted in the Illinois Attorney General’s Report, released on May 23, 2023.
